So if you are thinking of holding:
A secular event to celebrate a marriage
An informal naming ceremony for a new-born
An intimate gathering to remember someone who has recently died or you’d like to put on a play, exhibition or concert, use the space for a performance or hold a meeting . . .
St Peter’s would be a great venue.
Bear in mind St Peter’s is a medieval building the church so has no central heating, running water or toilet. Nearest toilet is the Chalet Café in Preston Park.
The church is decommissioned – no services are held here – but not deconsecrated so it is still a religious building.
The Churches Conservation Trust, a charity, has responsibility for this Grade 2* listed building. The Friends are a group of volunteers help look after it and keep it open every day. St Peter’s, Preston Park is around 750 years old, full of history and has made countless memories over generations. We think it’s important to maintain that tradition. Enjoy it!
St Peter's is a single nave church with the following dimensions:
Nave: Width 7.9 m Length 15 m
Chancel: Width 4.4 m Length 8.6 m
Tower: Width 2.4 m Length 3.2 m
There are seats for about 90 people.
Please note that the chancel, due to the choir stalls and altar area, is not all one useable space.
Bookings generally need to be made through the Churches Conservation Trust
